SINGLE AND SATISFIED - MY NEW BOOK

Updated: Nov 18, 2023

All of us know what satisfaction feels like, at least when it comes to food. While speaking on this topic in a high school, I asked one of the students what her favorite food was and she gladly responded. She went on to say that she likes that food so much that she is ever ready to eat it anytime it is available. I then asked her what she would do if she is very satisfied and I set a table with her favorite food on it. She paused for a while and then candidly said that she would preserve the food and eat it later. I then reminded her of what she said a while earlier and asked her why she would want to preserve her favorite food. She said, “because I am satisfied”. Wow!

On the other hand, we also know very well what it means to feel hungry, especially when food is not coming anytime soon. At least I do - very well. Once in high school, I went to bed without taking supper because I was late for supper and I had no food too. Any attempt to get some food from my friends also proved futile. During that night, I had a dream. In the dream, I was feeling so much pain in my stomach and was reacting to the pain by making sounds reflecting a person in so much pain. I later heard my bedmate ask me if I was alright, to which I responded, “My stomach”. Dear reader, apparently, it wasn’t a dream. It was reality. My roommates helped me to sit and by some miraculous means they managed to get me something to eat. That was when I realized that some realities can manifest as dreams. Another time too, when I used to spend most of my time at the game centre playing games and gambling with friends, I ended up wasting all the money I was given that day without eating. I only felt hunger after my money was done. It was evening and I had taken just breakfast. Unfortunately for me, when I reached home too, for some reason, supper was done. I had to settle for something I knew very well I didn’t like but had to eat because I had no other option. These stories are actually indicators that the scripture below is true:

A person who is full refuses honey, but even bitter food tastes sweet to the hungry. (Proverbs 27:7 – New Living Translation)

Did you see that? A person who is full [satisfied] refuses honey. This simply means that when you are satisfied you are patient. You are able to make decisions after careful thought, not necessarily out of feelings. Nonetheless, when you are hungry, the opposite is what happens. The main reason why many singles are not satisfied is because they are hungry; they think the grass is greener on the other side – the other side of dating. Meanwhile, by principle, the grass will always be greener where it is watered.

In Single and satisfied (the first of the Waiting and Gaining Series), you will be exposed to information that will help you become a satisfied-single young person whiles giving you the right foundation needed to start a marriage-driven romantic relationship at the right time.

Who you will be five years from now will largely be based on the people closest to you and the kind of books you read. This book is surely one of those that will have a positive impact on you. Although this book is primarily focused on singles [anyone who is unmarried and not in any romantic relationship as well], it has a lot to offer any other person as well.
